DEKKA KICK-OFF vol. II
DEKKA KICK-OFF is a joint experimental educational project by DEKKADANCERS, ARCHA+ space, and Jatka78 theater, aimed at young creators and performers in the field of dance theater. Following the successful pilot DEKKA KICK-OFF vol. I in 2025, we are now launching KICK-OFF vol. II. Its aim is to pass on practical experience through hands-on practice in the field of dance and theater. Come and try your hand at creating a dance performance! We will guide you through the entire process. The project places great emphasis on authenticity and space for expressing the artistic vision, attitudes, and ideas of the current young generation.
We are announcing two open calls for young creators who
- enjoy theater and creative work, who want to try their hand at creating a new dance performance from A to Z.
- love dance, choreography, music, directing, dramaturgy, theater, and art in general
- are between the ages of 18 and 28
- are able to attend all rehearsals and consultations according to the preliminary detailed schedule (the schedule will be finalized with the selected choreographers and dancers on March 10, 2026)
- are able to participate in the work in progress presentation on April 10, 2026, and the premiere and repeat performances of the production on May 31 and June 1, 2026, which will take place at the ARCHA Theater at 7:00 p.m.

The DEKKADANCERS team will then select 3 choreographers and 8 dancers.
Under the supervision of DEKKADANCERS, the selected choreographers will be guided in the creation of three approximately 20-minute dance performances "from A to Z" for a selected team of 8 dancers. In their role as consultants, DEKKADANCERS will share their experience in all key areas that intersect and complement each other in the creation of a new performance. The program will therefore focus not only on choreography and its interpretation, but also on the basics of visual arts, lighting design, photography, graphics, and marketing strategies for promoting dance works.
Halfway through the course, there will be a public presentation of the work in progress, followed by a discussion with the audience: April 10, 2026, ARCHA+ at 7:00 p.m.
The project will conclude with two public performances of a composed evening consisting of three choreographies at the ARCHA+ theater: May 31 and June 1, 2026, both at 7 p.m.
Fee for selected choreographers: CZK 20,000
Fee for selected dancers (rehearsals + performance): CZK 15,000
DEKKADANCERS will provide (after consultation with the selected choreographers) a budget for the production of costumes and small scenographic elements or props. However, given the limited time frame and experimental nature of the project, emphasis will be placed on minimalist, production-friendly solutions and modest technical and material requirements.

Patrik Čermák is a graduate of the Dance Center Prague Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, specializing in contemporary dance pedagogy. He has collaborated with a number of prominent Czech ensembles, such as the South Bohemian Theater Ballet, the Prague Chamber Ballet, Lenka Vagnerová & Company, and Laterna Magika. He is currently an active member of the Dekkadancers ensemble and also teaches contemporary dance in the form of workshops and regular lessons.

*Registration for the open call and subsequent participation of selected participants in the experimental program DEKKA KICK–OFF vol. II is free of charge. Accommodation and transportation are not covered by the organizers.

A project dance group that was founded in 2009 as a sister company of the National Theater Ballet in Prague. Since 2015, we have been operating as an independent dance company. DEKKADANCERS have a number of productions and performances across genres to their credit – from full-length dance productions to diverse projects such as fashion shows, music videos, and concerts. The company is led by Štěpán Pechar and Ondřej Vinklát.
DEKKADANCERS make dance more accessible to the general public. Authentically, without pandering, and with a unique approach to each performance. We work with the best in their fields across genres. These include top dancers, as well as popular musicians and renowned theater and visual artists. Audiences take away from DEKKADANCERS performances not only a movement and dance experience, but also a complete theatrical experience, often spiced with a specific kind of humor that breaks down the boundaries between audience and performer.
